Question by icyownage@ymail.com: How do you find your WEP/WPA code on a linksys WiFi router?
I need to find the WEP/WPA code on my linksys router so I can get on my PSP's internet. I know neither but it will also help to know how to change the codes too.

Depending on the router, you can read the code by logging on the routers control panel and looking in the security settings. Some routers will not show the codes in free text, but others will. You will have to enter the address into your internet browser to access the routers control program. Most use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1, but not all.
Once the screen opens, you will need to log onto the router. If you have not changed the log on info, the default for most is "admin" and "password" OR "admin" and " "(blank).

Once you are into the router page, look for a setting for security. It should list both the network name and the security type and key.

If you do not know the password, and have changed it from the default when you set up the system, you can reset the router back to factory codes. If you do need to do this, then you should log onto the linksys web site and download the setup program for your model of router. Then once you reset the router, which you can find out how to do on the linksys site, you can run the setup program and reprogram your system. Create a new network with a new security key, that you are sure to write down. Once the new system is up and running, you can use the new key you created to log the PSP onto the system.

This hasn’t increased the range my desktop has but has greatly increased the speed by about 100%! I get 2MB/s download on LAN and I was only getting 800KB/s before I used this antenna. Now, I get 1.6MB/s or even 1.7MB/s download speeds! Also, the price is very cheap! The magnetic base sticks anywhere easily.

No change in boosting of wifi signal at all or increase in speed as another has stated they experienced. Still worth the 7-8 bucks just to have extra antennas though. If your looking for signal boost, this is NOT for you but if you’re needing extra antennas then it’s a decent buy. Keep in mind you will get what you pay for though. I can tell you though that these are primarily for cell phone usage (it even came packaged as cell phone antenna from the manufacturer) which we know uses higher frequencies than routers. Evidently, that’s the reason for no change in signal or quality. Very quick shipping by Eforcity so my shopping experience was pleasurable. I bought a 3 pack. I installed 2 of them in our 2 desktops, both of which are located at one end of the house from the router. We were originally getting a signal strength of low and now it is consistently up at the good to very good range. The improvement is due to the ability to move the antenna to a spot for good reception. There’s very little you can do with the OEM antenna that’s on the wireless card sitting behind your PC unit. I was going to use the 3rd antenna for the router, but it doesn’t fit the Linksys router we have.

I have my router located close to the equipment it is connected to. This location proved to be the problem for the WIFI signal getting to the other end of the house. The nicest feature about buying this antenna is it comes with a six foot cord allowing the business end to be placed in different locations. Moving the antenna 12 inches one way or the other makes a world of difference for signal strength and data rates. I’m pleased that I now have excellent wireless internet on my patio. It will take several tries to find the “sweet spot” location, but is definitely worth the effort.
