Question by JLI1: How do I increase wifi signal in apartment?
I live in an apartment complex and my laptop picks up about 3 wifi signals with different names. I kind of piggyback off these internet wifi signals but they're all about only 2 bars and they're slow. Is there any accessory I can buy to increase the signal strength for my laptop?

You can take some aluminum foil and make a makeshift satalite dish near the reciever, touching the laptop, and point it towards the source....you will have an increase of between 10-25%

@thomasfisher24
3g is “worldwide,” that is, wherever you can get 3g reception (without trees, tunnels, etc interfering) you can download books. Either the 3g or wireless is extremely slow when trying to surf the web, but that’s not what the product is designed for.

@MaddieKatz Don’t quote me on this, but I think that the Kindle Wi-Fi version and the Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi version are the same size. The speed depends on your Wi-Fi Connection, but I think that Wi-Fi is faster than 3G speed if you have a reasonable internet connection.

I’m in the UK. My amazon store offers either the Kindle Wi-Fi or the Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi. Which is the thinnest and fastest? Thank you very much! ~

Very nice video on this Kindle.
I have the NookColor with wifi which is awesome for reading and surfing the internet–and it also has Flash Player for watching movies, etc.
I ‘m partial to it since I can see my photo portfolios in color.
The book downloads may take a short time before it arrives on Nook’s bookshelf.
Also has new Apps, as well as Pandora.
It doesn’t have Text to Speech.
I ordered this Kindle 3g with Wifi –I like the idea of text to speech,
and the ability to use it anywhere.

I’m looking to upgrade eReaders (Got the older Sony Pocket Reader, the now-discontinued PRS-300). The DRM locking and lack of ePub support is the main reason I’ve shied away from Kindle so far. It is cheaper than the current Sony Pocket Reader (PRS-350) and widely used/supported though. Hmm, decisions.

@KevinPatrickCarey it has 3.3GB of storage, that’s a lot of text bro. You are somewhat right, they want to advertise the best number they could get, but it’s not horribly over exaggerated.

do you need a sim card to use the 3G?

@parkxi its like reading a normal book without light. Black light dammages your eyes thats why Dr’s say don’t stay on the pc longer than 1hr, the kindle has no back light so your eyes are safe so yes you need some sort of natural light to read.
