My dad thinks that if I buy a wifi router for my itouch, he has to pay monthly payments for the wifi internet. Is that true? Or is it just free if I simply buy and install the wifi router?

no you don't. once you buy the router you just set it up with your existing internet connection so it will share it with any wi-fi device. so your only paying a one-time fee for the router and then your existing internet bill.

If your home already has the internet then a router does not cost anything accept for the original purchase.

There is a monthly fee ONLY if you get the router from your Provider. If you purchase your own, there is no charge. Some providers will even sell you one for a one time charge. You MUST already have internet in your home tho.

You must have an Internet Service Provider.
If you do at home and have Internet then NO you will not be charged extra, bbut you must have Internet Service to begin with.
Otherwise you will have to PAY for the Internet Service.

you can use a wireless router. you can get any brand and use in conjunction with your ISP router they provide. you automaticly rent there router and it does not pay to buy the router from them, because they are proprietary units you can choose to buy it but it depends on if you like your ISP if so call it an investment but i would suggest a separate router with wifi built in for added security. and flexibility.
