Is there a device you can buy that uses a ac outlet or a car charger that gives you wifi like for a laptop or iPod touch. Like a portable wireless router or something

Most phone companies have brought out prepaid wireless internet that basically can be used anywhere or you can by a wireless card for your laptop. iPod touch I don’t think can do anything like that.

You can buy a browser pack for your mobile phone and plug the phone into the laptop.
This does cost a little but is a cheap way to have internet for a once off holiday. The trap with this, is when the browser pack runs out but you do not realise that it has, and keep using the internet, you can get a dirty big phone bill. A teenager clocked up a $50,000 bill in one month on his phone.
Another device is a usb device that does exactly the same as the mobile phone, except its not a phone and the internet is a little cheaper. The same trap applies to this as well as the mobile phone if they are on a plan.
However if you get prepaid, then the trap is limited to what balance you have on your prepaid.
the internet speed is a little slower than broadband.
