Question by ??oh??: Need help with my Linksys wifi setup, please?
I have a router in my kitchen, sending off wifi to my house. My PC is in my room and I have a Linksys USB plugged into my computer to get the wifi from the router in my kitchen. I was wondering if there is a way to make the wifi going into my PC be transmitted back out from my PC with another device, or something to extend my wifi farther. (also want to internet to still work on my PC) Thanks.

The units that you use on your computer can be used one of two ways. As a "receiver" for your access point or as an "AD-HOC" system connection. They can not do both at the same time.
You can get small repeaters which can be setup in areas of your home to extend coverage, you just can't do it with a "client" (your computer).
Linksys (if you want to stick with the same brand) has a repeater. http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WRE54G

When I dl vmware and started my backtrack the whole screen just looks like your open shell. I don’t have that side menu and when I click on it, I can no longer use my mouse. I also can not open multiple shells at once. Do you know how to fix this?

@curemymind No, I tried that. It turns out that my USB device isn’t supported by BT4. I tried ndis wrapper to no avail. It doesn’t matter, I ended up setting up a second tower.

you only have to do airomon-ng start wlan0 if u are using the wicd manager or started the network… if u dont u can use airodump-ng wlan0 to monitor but if u have started the network then u will use the start wlan0 so it can by pass the busy of wlan0 and use the new interface which is mon0 or mon1…. good video tho expt u must also explain that the usb needs to d/c from the host to the vm so bt4 can use it
